five (pinterest) faves

Surely you’ve heard of Pinterest by now?

Follow Me on Pinterest

It’s all the rage.  And it didn’t take (Kinesthetic) me long to figure out why!  Know how you’re always book marking blogs and websites and whatnot that you happen upon in cyber-ville.  To be honest…I usually forget all about my bookmarks.  But Pinterest is so visually exciting and organized that it makes it SO much easier not to forget!  Here’s a little sample of some things I’ve pinned this week…

five faves (3rd edition)

Wonderful ACE summary.  She offers tons of insight and info to help guide your thoughts about whether ACE is the right fit for your family or not.  She put words to a lot of my own thoughts.

I’ve been thinking and mulling and searching for what I wanted to do with Geography next year.  When I stumbled on this wonderful online tool thanks to a fellow workbox poster!  The best news is…it’s free!  She’s already done all the work by listing books and other resources needed to study each country.

Holy Moly do I LOVE this website!  SO many wonderfully fun games.  A great “play to learn” spot that needs to be bookmarked. I’m even planning to dare Toby to a USA map off to see which one of us can complete the puzzle first!  But shhhhhhh don’t tell him that I’m practicing up!

These chore charts are Oh My Goodness adorable!  Now I just need to make friends with a crafts-y mommy who can hook me up with the garden themed one.  Cause it’s just too cute!

You know that blue tape you’re supposed to use when trying not to accidentally paint your trim the same color as your walls?  Let’s just say I need it by the barrel full!  I’m a sloppy (or it could be impatient?) painter.  Which is why my Hubs usually does the painting around here.  But a teacher friend tipped me off to another fantastic use for it that I just have to share with you…  To hang projects and papers on your classroom (or whichever room) walls!  How much $$ have I wasted on those silly (read: wicked pricey) poster hangers that claim to not damage the walls?  Too much, I say!  But no more!  Now…I grace our Wall of Fame with Painter’s Tape holding the works of art up!  It’s so much less expensive and won’t damage the (lovingly painted by Daddy) walls that I’m more generous about letting the kids build an art studio in their room.  Love the stuff!

my five fave finds of the week (2nd edition)

I’m always a fan when someone else does the work for me!  Also…it’s nice to see another mom dealing with the same character training issues as me!

LOVE it!  Because…well…I LOVE Disney.  And I’m totally forcing The Hubs to take us next year!

He’s cute AND smart!  While it might sound conspiracy theorist, there are crazy people out there who’d love to steal your life.  It’s one of the dangers of sharing your life wide open via a blog.  I’ve often worried that someone would capitalize on Trevy’s cute face and sad story for financial gain.  Stop rolling your eyes…it happens!  So when I stumbled across Copy Gator, I was all over it!  And I feel more protected.

Because I’m always looking for fresh ways to improve our flow!

I’d consider myself Montessori-ish.  Although I don’t have the training…I deeply believe in the theory of hands-on learning.  Montessori for Everyone offers gobs of resources and even some free downloads!  Great for moms who need some extra guidance and are into hands on learning methods!

And a bonus…just for you!  Also, I couldn’t wait until my next 5 faves to share…

my five fave finds of the week

Super adorable and just perfectly printable for my playdough mat project!

I just loooooove this post for all the practical advice!  How many times have I felt guilty when I’ve had Toby re-take a test.  Like somehow I’m cheating.  When really…I’m teaching.  Because we’re working on mastery not test-ery!  A great read!

How great is it that you can test drive their products?!  And I have my eye on the 10 week Solar System Unit Study for next year.

You know all those blogs you stumbled on and fell in love with.  Only to click away and forget to hop back over for another look-see.  And there wasn’t a Feedburner option on the sidebar to help you out.  Have you mourned those losses too?

Then allow me to introduce you to your new bloggy BFF -  Feedblitz!

How can I even call myself a Blogger Mommy and not have known about this little gem?  Sheesh!  (I love that the convo came up in my workbox forum!) All you have to do is copy & paste the url into the subscription box and wah-lah…it’ll be delivered to your inbox!  No more losing track of great reads!

Bubble Center
(inspired by Michelle of Michelle’s Charm World)

You can read her post here.  I loooooved the idea so much that I had to share!  And you really should subscribe to her blog.  SO much energy, creativity, and wonderful ideas!

I hate hate hate having loose bubble containers everywhere!  My life is cluttered enough!

Speaking of clutter.  I had this counter top water dispenser just taking up space in a basket on top of my fridge.  Too cute to toss.  But totally unneeded now that we have a fridge with a water dispenser in the door.

So whenever Michelle posted about filling it up with all those half full bottles of bubbles that get shoved here, there, and everywhere…

I was, like, Oh My Word…that’s awesome!  I love it!

And promptly set about pouring them all in and recycling the now empty bubble bottles of all sizes.
