his summer school –her summer school

The plan was to Saxon our way through the summer.  But I forgot to factor in cousins visiting…basketball camp…dance camp…beach days…and oh yeah…

mommy needing a sanity break!

:: wink ::

Saxon is collecting dust in it’s workbox home.  Meanwhile…Toby is sweating over the test prep workbook I have him studying in preparation for his online CAT evaluation.  I’m not a teach-to-the-test kinda girl.  But he’s never taken a standardized test before and I wanted him to get a feel for the process.

Bristel has been faithfully completing a Click N’ Kids lesson daily.  She’s doing wonderful even if she has declared Click N’ Kids her…

enemy!

LOL

She enjoys her math workbook though.  And was quite proud of her “1st Grade numbers”.

That’s what she called them.  So cute.

We’re learning to skip-count.

These rainbow stix & shapes I found in a Staples dollar bin have been working just perfectly as math manipulatives!

  1. Hahaha, I had high plans for summer too and lo and behold, school is just around the corner and we didn't do as well as I had hoped!

  2. Glad to hear it's not just me! The unit studies sit abandoned and we have done maybe two math lessons. Camp and soccer have sidetracked us.

  3. that's the great thing about homeschooling, it's flexible ;) I'm sure your kids have had several learning opportunities throughout, learning doesn't have to be workbooks and 'lessons'... ;)
    Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  5. We started our new school year on July 11th. It's been fun, and we're not bored during the day anymore. Was wondering, are you on The Well Trained Mind forums by any chance? :)

  7. Thanks for stopping by and linking-up (even though I was late getting things going)! I think we will check out the online CAT for next year! Sounds better than the paper/pencil version! Good luck! :)

  9. Linky Michelle...I LOVE your link-up! I'm still a workbox rookie...and I'm VERY Kinesthetic so seeing what others are doing is my thing. :) I'm hoping this online version is the ticket! I'll be sure to post about it when we're done.

    Mary...you look great blonde!
