I happened to stumble on summer reading prep in progress at an area library the other day. I love how our libraries set it up so that even the pre-readers are eligible. The kiddos keep a reading journal and earn various prizes through out the summer months. The prizes are usually kinda cheesy. But hey...when you're a kid...even cheesy prizes are cool. And the monthly special events are always super fun!

This year I'm planning to sign them up for the Barnes & Noble summer reading program too!
Actually, I just learned about their Kids Club and signed all three up right away. Because, really, who doesn't love a free cupcake?! Click here for the B&N summer scoop.

Scholastic has partnered with Kumon . Together they've created a program where your children (5-12) can earn up to 5 books!
Click here to get the full scoop. Thanks bunches to my sweet friend, Jen, for scooping me!
**editor's FYI** a more detail oriented person emailed a clarification - it is 5 books per household and there is a limited supply. As always, make sure you read the fine print when you join. :)**

And since we're on the topic of reading. You have heard about Pizza Hut's BookIt program, right?
I find free pizza is a wonderful motivator. For mommy!
I have a month of free linky thingy-s to use. So, here's another link-up opportunity! Share with us any clever reading type things you've blogged about recently!

We looove to read and I'm a huge fan of our library reading programs! We live in a town with 2 huge waterparks and the give tickets to those at the end and throughout it's kids meals at local restaurants mixed in with make your own bookmark, make your own magnet, pencil with eraser etc..
