The Kiddos

felt activities and three buddies 026

Trevy the Preschooler.  He attends a four day a week half day program at our local public school.  There he receives intensive therapies to keep him trucking developmentally along.

Bristel's 1st Grade Curriculum

Bristel the First Grader.  Don’t let that giddy face fool you!  She’s recently declared all learning her “enemy”!  She’ll be homeschooled this year.  And the majority of her curriculum will be Abeka based.  Mostly cause we already had a lot of the books needed!

to organize and blog 014

Toby the Fifth Grader.  I’ve been educating him at home since the middle of the First Grade.  Never intending to make it a full time gig.  I just kinda sorta never stopped.  And here we are four years later!  His curriculum is a mish-mash of ACE, Saxon, Apologia and lots of freebie stuff I’m finding on the great wide web.  You can find a more detailed list here.

The Workboxes

workbox 002

Our workboxes currently live in the IKEA Trofast system.  I love the workbox concept because I’m a big fan of organization.

New to workboxing and looking for ideas?

Sunflower Schoolhouse is a wonderful resource!

The School Room

school room 001

The kids share a room for now which allows us to use the 3rd bedroom as a school/therapy/guest room.

It’s not super big.  And sometimes I’m seriously discontent.  I just felt like I needed to confess that.  Smile.

The Hubs is going to build out our basement (someday) in hopes of either moving the school room down there or the guest room.

But for now…this is it.  And it works!

The Tools I Couldn’t Live Without

  • Painter’s Tape.  Cheap and great for sticking things to the wall without damaging the paint job!
  • Library.  Ours just became fully cyber functional this year which has made my life SO much easier.  I can order books online.  I can renew them online too!  Which saves us mulah since I’m usually running behind or too scheduled to make it over there in time.
  • iPad.  We bought this for Trevy but it has really become invaluable to all of us!  Toby and Bristel each have their own little app folders where I like to add and delete games for them to play.
  • Netflix.  Tons of educational series and shows for the kids to watch!  Every afternoon I set them up for “rest time” and let them choose from what I’ve added to the instant que.  Click here to see some of the goodies we've found.
